Bowl season is just around the corner, and almost half of college football's Division 1 schools are currently preparing for one more game
this season. Bowls provide a number of benefits for colleges who make
them . The obvious benefits are the thousands or millions of dollars in
revenue that a university will receive for making the bowl. Athletes
will also receive benefits based on the specific bowl they play in from
travel gear, to tv's, to phones totaling thousands. However, the most
underrated benefit is the amount of extra practice time the schools will
get. This can be incredibly important
in the development of young players. An extra 3-5 weeks of practice
will be held in December to January and good coaches take advantage of
it. Seniors will often time get shortened practice or even days off to
give the young guys more reps. It's no coincidence a lot of the same
teams go to a bowl each year. So enjoy bowl season, and if you're
practicing right now, get better!
